Janet specializes in preparation for IB biology, IB chemistry, IB psychology, IB language and literature, and academic support in biology, chemistry, psychology, and English reading and writing.

Janet is an experienced test prep and academic tutor with specialties in the sciences, particularly biology, chemistry, and psychology. She is passionate about helping students establish a solid foundational understanding to better acquire new knowledge, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals.

Janet graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with honors in her Psychology degree and minoring in Chemistry. She went straight through into pursuing her dream to become a dentist and is currently a D.D.S. candidate at the Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in New York City as part of the class of 2026.

Throughout her high school, undergraduate, and now graduate schooling, Janet has consistently conducted research ranging from assisting on major projects to even conducting her own thesis, and has a number of publications to her name. Her passion for research is paralleled by her drive to teach, as evident by her vast tutoring experience across a wide range of ages and educational fields. She’s worked as a private academic tutor for all the sciences and English reading and writing, as well as an ACT/SAT prep tutor. She’s also worked as a teacher’s assistant in a variety of STEM classes she excelled in during her undergraduate years.

Janet is a strong advocate for engaging, individualized, and adaptive tutoring, and believes that lessons should be tailored to fit the student’s needs and interests. She believes tutoring to be more than simply academic help and likes to pursue a strong sense of mentorship as well.

When not tutoring, Janet can be found deep in the food scene, whether that be cooking/baking up a storm in the kitchen or exploring new NYC restaurants, or outdoors where she loves to play sports!
